The Swansea Corner Store sponsored an Ambrose comp on Saturday that was well supported by our members. A huge thanks goes to Greg and Jo Raspin for their generous sponsorship. The weather was also kind with a warm sunny day to make the day even more enjoyable.
Swansea, Orford and Bicheno clubs travelled to Freycinet for the final round of the inter Club Competition (FOBS) for 2014. After the third round Swansea and Orford were equal on points. As a result of the last round Orford put up a strong performance to win the overall competition.
The Club championships concluded on Saturday in conjunction with the normal weekly competition. The stroke event was won by Jim Miley with a net 57 closely followed by Jim Morris, one stroke behind. Both have continued to feature prominently in most of the recent competitions and are to be commended for their steady improvement during the season.
This week we played for the monthly medal in windy but pleasant conditions. Jim Miley continued his good recent form to win with a nett 58 from Malcolm Sinclair nett 60. Sally Siepen with nett 63 won the ladies medal from Pat Hardcastle 64. Malcolm also won nearest the pin 4/13. Balls down the line Chris Weeding 61 Vic Walton 63 Pat Hardcastle 64
A good field turned out for the weekly competition which was conducted in conjunction with the first round of the club championships. The stableford event was won by Paul Morris with 42 points with Malcolm Sinclair a close second on 41.
